Dr. Rachid Hedjam is a researcher and educator with a strong background in computer science and applied research. He obtained his MSc degree in Computer Science and Operations Research from the University of Montreal in 2009 and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS), University of Quebec, in 2013, graduating with highest honors. His doctoral journey was marked by exceptional academic achievements, including receiving the prestigious FQRNT doctoral scholarship, multiple ETS scholarships, and numerous academic accolades. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Hedjam pursued postdoctoral research at the Remote Sensing Laboratory at McGill University from October 2013. His research focused on multispectral image processing and pattern recognition, contributing significantly to fields such as cultural heritage preservation, forensic science, and remote sensing. This work was supported by the FQRNT postdoctoral fellowship, emphasizing his excellence in innovative research. In 2017, Dr. Hedjam joined the Department of Computer Science at Sultan Qaboos University, where he further enriched his academic and research portfolio. Currently, he is a Professor of Computer Science at Bishop’s University in Canada. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, image processing, and IoT applications. Dr. Hedjam leads the Artificial Intelligence track at the AMI-Lab, part of the Research Center on Aging at the University of Sherbrooke. Dr. Hedjam also contributes to the broader scientific community through his involvement in the organization and program committees of renowned conferences, including M2GARS, MedPRAI, UVS-Oman, and IC. His multifaceted expertise and contributions continue to shape the fields of computer science and applied technology. Dr. Hedjam is a dedicated member of IEEE and IEEE GRSS, actively engaging in their professional communities.

ABDULRAZAK Bessam
Ambient Intelligence for Digital Health to Promote Healthy Aging

Dr. Abdulrazak is a full professor of Computer Sciences at the University of Sherbrooke (UdeS/ Québec – Canada), director of the Ambient Intelligence Laboratory (Ami-Lab), director of the Research Center on Smart Habitats (RCSH), track chair for the Quebec Digital health network (RSN), researcher at the Research center on Aging (CdRV), and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Health Informatics (CIRIUS). Before that, he spent three years as postdoctoral fellow at the University of Florida (UF-USA). He received a PhD in computer science from Telecom SudParis / previously the Institut national des télécommunications (INT) (France), a MSc in Robotics from the Université Pierre & Marie Curie – Paris VI (UPMC / France), and a BSc engineering in Electronics from the University of Sciences & Technology Houari-Boumediene (USTHB /Algeria). His research interests include Context-Awareness, the Internet of Things (IoT), Ambient Intelligence, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing, Smart City, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital health, Gerontechnology and Assistive Technology. One of the specificities of his research work is that it does not stop at the level of IT solution development, but also covers deployment and evaluation in the field. His target is to make a real impact on the field by collecting and studying real data that reflects the reality of the targeted environments.
